The Shannonside Winter Music Festival has been going from strength to strength over the last few years and next January’s event marks another step forward for this eclectic festival of the best in acoustic music. Between Thursday and Monday almost 80 concerts, pub gigs, sessions, and shows will keep the villages of Sixmilebridge and Bunratty buzzing and bouncing with acts from far and wide, as well as the cream of local talent.
The 19th Shannonside Winter Music Weekend will take place between the 19 and 22 of January 2018. From rootsy bands to classical voices, and from bluegrass to swing, there is no shortage of variety or quality for the discerning ear. The pubs of both villages will host lively traditional Irish, bluegrass and swing sessions and gigs all weekend, while concerts in Bunratty Castle Hotel, Durty Nelly’s new venue, and the Mill Bar in Sixmilebridge might be a little more sedate. Saturday at the Folk Park in Bunratty alone will host 22 gigs across five locations.
With 80 events – all but a few of them free – at 18 locations, over 100 musicians playing multiple musical genres, and more craic and quality than you could imagine, the 2018 festival promises to live up to its predecessors as a real treat.
