‘Share a Story, Make a Connection’ is the main theme of Heritage Week 2018 with a record 102 events taking place around County Clare from the 18th to 26th of August 2018.
The annual celebration of County Clare’s Built, Natural and Cultural Heritage is being co-ordinated locally by Clare County Council and The Heritage Council, with support from Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
Local events taking place include lectures, field trips, film screenings, workshops, exhibitions, historical re-enactments, and local history walks and talks.
Each year many local community organisations and interested individuals organize heritage events throughout County Clare. Whether it is nature and wildlife, folklore, or built heritage, Heritage Week has something for everyone. Join a guided nature walk, take a boat trip or explore a castle.
Coordinated by The Heritage Council Nationwide, Heritage Week is part of European Heritage Days in which over 40 countries participate each year promoting awareness of our built, natural and cultural heritage as well as sharing Europe’s common cultural heritage.
Heritage Week is a unique opportunity for everyone to get involved in Ireland’s heritage, learn more about it, preserve it for future generations and above all, enjoy it!
