The First Friday Series curated by Áine Phillips

in association with Clare Arts Office and The Artists' Resource Room

The Artists’ Resource Room is a visual artist-led community group providing a space for artistic dialogue in Co. Clare in the form of regular meetings, presentations, artist film screenings and debates.

Áine Phillips is a visual artist based in Ennis and is Head of Sculpture at Burren College of Art. She has exhibited and performed her work widely in Ireland and internationally.

Join us for tea/coffee in the Spás at glór at 11am followed by our meeting at 11.30am.

On Friday 6 October we welcome Hilary Dully

Hilary Dully is a filmmaker who has made work for RTE, TG4 and Channel 4 and in more recent years has engaged in community based filmmaking practice. Her film work has engaged with social issues and marginalised perspectives in Irish life for over three decades.  Her interest lies in the ‘personal perspective’ on issues where ’the interview’ is the central focus.  Over time, Hilary has made films about social divisions in Irish life, life after prison, homelessness, Northern Ireland, sexuality and relationships, suicide, drug addiction, the changing nature of rural life, abortion and women in Irish society. She is presently working on a film called Lakeside Stories in collaboration with young people in East Clare, which centres on communal and personal memories of life in a small rural parish. Hilary will discuss her work and show extracts from her films to create a potted and personalised account of Irish life over the last thirty years.
