September 20th sees the annual Culture Night throughout Ireland and once again County Clare is to the forefront celebrating cultural activity at local level with free guided tours, music, arts, science workshops, film and literary events happening across the county.
This year, 15 towns and villages take part with 50 events lined up, starting from 4pm and running ’til late.
Culture Night is brought to you by the Department of Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht in partnership with the Arts Office of Clare County Council.

WEST CLARE EVENTS
Supervalu Foyer, Miltown Malbay 5-8pm
Display of plastic art based on nature and made from plastics found on Whitestrand Beach by children at a workshop with artist Evelyn Sorohan.
FILM CLUB: THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY

Winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes, this film starring Cillian Murphy is a human drama set against a bloody historical backdrop.
MAL’S BAY IN ART, SONG & MUSIC

In Mal’s Bay in Art, Marie Connole exhibits and talks of her art based on the legends of Mal. Songs and Tunes from the West Clare Coast features Tim Dennehy, Róisín White and guests.
LESLIE DOWDALL AND MIKE HANRAHAN
Cultúrlann Sweeney, Kilkee 8pm
A wonderful opportunity to hear two of this island’s most acclaimed singer/songwriters, Leslie Dowdall, the voice and songwriter behind the sound that was In Tua Nua and Mike Hanrahan, the voice and songwriter of Stocktons Wing at this intimate venue.
