Clare Arts Office presents ‘’ When Craftsmen Upped Their Game’’ an exhibition by artist John McCormack that explores the interesting theme of church architecture and the historical role of the church acting as ‘’patron’’ to artists and craftsmen/women throughout the ages. Local Clare artist John McCormack uses sketching as a form in which to present his ideas. His interest in church architecture has been a gradual process, initiated more by luck then judgement. Says McCormack ‘’ sketching in a busy spot can be impractical, often attracting unwanted attention. A church can provide shelter, seating and peace, I soon realised it can supply inspiration’’. John has studied visual art throughout his life and has exhibited in Stephens Green, Dublin and in the Clare Museum and Ennistymon. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend. The exhibition runs for two weeks from June 18th – 30th.
