A Clare County Library Decade of Centenaries Lecture: The Scariff Martyrs: History and Memory, a talk by Dr. Tomás Mac Conmara, chaired by Jim Collins

Scariff Local History Group presents

This months talk will explore the story of the Scariff Martyrs (also known as the four who fell). These four young men were murdered by the British Forces on the bridge of Killaloe on the 16th of November 1920 at the height of the War of Independence. Tomás is exploring this episode in his next book, due for release in late 2020. Those who may have family tradition or folklore associated with this incident are encouraged to attend. Copies of Tomás’ most recent book, The Time of the Tans will be available on the night. This is a free event and all are welcome. Contact Scariff Library on 061 922893 for further information.
