The Sweeney Memorial Public Library, Kilkee, was founded in the 1950s with money bequeathed from Dr. William J. Sweeney, Union City, New Jersey whose grandfather was born in Kilkee in 1833. The newly refurbished library was opened on the 27th of February 2012 by Jimmy Deenihan, T.D., Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs.
This library has a stock of over 12,800 items for lending and there are ten free public access internet PCs.

Monday and Wednesday – 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm and 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm
Saturday – 10.30 am to 2.00 pm
