Miltown Malbay is situated in West Clare and is one of Clare’s musical and cultural homelands. Miltown Malbay was a hub for local farmers who brought their grain to be milled. The town originally has 5 corn mills and only 3 can be seen today. Although Miltown Malbay is not on the coast it takes its second name from Mal Bay.
Milltown Malbay is renowned for its singers, dancers and musicians especially the famous Willie Clancy. There is a festival celebrated each year in early July dedicated to Willie Clancy. There are many types of accommodation available in Miltown from hotels to bed and breakfasts. The pubs in the town provide a wide variety of entertainment with traditional music popular.
