Killaloe is a beautiful Shannon side village right on the eastern fringes of County Clare. It is the busiest boating and fishing centre in the Clare region. Killaloe offers the visitor a chance to immerse themselves in the history, the beautiful riverside setting and an easily access point to the waterway. From Killaloe, you can sail all the way to Sligo and in the summer time Killaloe is full with mooring barges and holidaymakers. Killaloe is a charming network of narrow streets surrounded by old houses and shops. Water Activities and sports make Killaloe so popular, you can hire boats for personal use or alternatively enjoy some short cruises around the River Shannon and Lough Derg. Around 940 Killaloe was the birthplace of Brian Boru the high king of Ireland. He ruled the whole Kingdom of Ireland from Killaloe and every year in July a festival is held in his honour.
