A Year Chasing Ice at Fitzpatrick's Bar, Doolin

Irish Adventurer Mike O Shea will be at the Fitzpatricks Bar, Doolin on Wednesday 6th of November with tales of his amazing recent expeditions. Facing temperatures as low as minus fifty degrees centigrade and howling gales that confined him to his tent for days on end, Mikes personal crusade to cross all of the major icecaps of the world is certainly extreme. His talk will cover his travels to the worlds largest lake , frozen Lake Baikal in Northern Russia , the rarely attempted North Patagonian Icecap and his almost fatal attempt on the North Pole.

Mike has been actively involved in mountaineering since the mid eighties and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, South America (Mount Aconcagua 23,000ft), Nepal, and Pakistan where he made an attempt with an International expedition to climb K2. This summer also saw him guide seven groups up the worlds highest free standing mountain , Kilimanjaro, for Irish group Kilimanjaro Achievers.

His latest series of challenges , dubbed “The Ice Project”, is set to be his toughest yet.

The upcoming talk will feature some of the stunning photos and video footage that O’Shea captures on this expeditions , offering a thrilling insight into the life of an adventurer traveling the frozen regions of the world. Whether interested in nature , adventure , travel or personal determination this talk will be of interest to you .

The talk begins at 8pm and tickets cost just €10 for adults , and €8 for concessions and can be purchased at the door on the night.
