The annual Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk will take place through the picturesque villages of Killaloe, Co Clare and Ballina, Co. Tipperary and around the stunning shores of Lough Derg.
The Route - Following the success of the first Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk in 2010, the 2011 Killaloe Pink Ribbon Walk will utilise the same course, beginning from the Lakeside Hotel in Ballina. From here, the route will take participants through the picturesque village of Ballina, across the famous Killaloe Bridge, through old Killaloe town and off onto the Garraunboy loop, a route loved by all the local walking enthusiasts. The route in part meanders up hills in order to make the most of the spectacular views available in the area before returning back down to follow the shores of the lake. As it is a looped walk, you will finish back at the Lakeside Hotel.
Start time - From 2pm you are invited to join our motivational warm up, under the expert leadership of Carmel de Mello on the lawns of the Lakeside Hotel. The walk itself will begin at 2.30pm from the Lakeside Hotel. We welcome participants with all level of fitness, and would ask that the more fit amongst us who are choosing run the route to take their place closest to the start line, while those choosing to have a more leisurely stroll and enjoythe spectacular scenery can join the 'back of the pack'. Terrain - The course takes place entirely on sealed main and country roads.
Duration - The expected time to complete the walk will be about 2.5 hours, and will suit walkers with an average level of fitness. There will be plenty of water stops along the route.
