Martha says 'The work takes its influence from my rural background and the close associations of my ancestors to the seasons, the earth and food production. My garden is my utopia and each of my pieces has its own unique character and significance addressing our organic sense of rhythm, movement and form.
The sculptures pay homage to the understanding held by a local community that led me to appreciate and respect the land we take from daily. The pieces record the teachings and the traditional rural style of living in Ireland."
