Festival of Music & Dancing during Willie Clancy Week at the Armada Hotel

The Armada in Spanish Point has announced details of its annual Festival of Music & Dancing during Willie Clancy Week from 3rd-12th July, 2015.
The 10-day programme of set dancing sessions and country music dancing coincides with Willie Clancy Week in nearby Miltown Malbay, the hometown of the late Piper Willie Clancy.
Michael English, The Abbey Ceili Band and Philomena Begley are among the acts lined up to take part in the 32nd annual event.

The 10-day event is complemented by social dancing in the ocean marquee on the grounds of the Armada Hotel along with fireside sessions in Johnny Burke's Pub, late night music in The Ocean Bar, and an extensive range of dining and drink options. For the first time, the Festival features a Festival Club which will run each evening from 6th to 10th July.
Organisers are expecting attendance figures at this year's Festival to exceed the estimated 5,000 people who took part in the 2014 event.

“Each year we have seen Ireland's largest traditional music summer school and our festival grow in popularity and we look forward to once again playing our part in showcasing the traditional heritage of both Miltown Malbay and Spanish Point to thousands of people from all over Ireland and abroad,” commented Frank Minogue, General Manager of the Armada.

'Keeping It Country; at the Ocean Marquee features seven nights of dancing from 9.30pm, with performances from resident duo PJ Murrihy and Micheál Sexton (nightly, 5-11 July) with special guests Michael English (7 July), Paddy O'Brien (8 July), Philomena Begley (9 July), Trudi Lalor (10 July) and Kathy Durkin (11 July). There will be Jive and Quickstep workshops in the Marquee from 12pm to 2pm each afternoon.
'Armada Set Dancing Week' features daily afternoon (3-6pm) and night-time sessions (9.30pm-1.00am) kicking off on Friday 3rd July with Brian Ború performing in the Ocean Bar.
