Flower Power Festival, Ballyvaughan celebrates Dr. O’Kelly.

Special Events:

Official Opening Reception of O’Kelly festival and exhibitions by Dr Matthew Jebb, Director of the National Botanic Gardens. Following a short talk, Dr Jebb will lead a field trip in search of the O Kellyei and other orchids. Venue; St John’s Hall, Ballyvaughan, 6pm.

Visit Clareville House Kitchen Garden. Deborah Evers will lead a guided tour and talk on the history of this walled kitchen garden and on developing a kitchen garden, which will include design, selection of plants and their uses, growing, harvesting and seed saving. Meet; St John’s Hall at 3pm.

“Dr Patrick Bernard O’ Kelly- the local man” Conor Fahy presents an illustrated talk and local anecdotal tales collected about the enigmatic botanist. Venue; St John’s Hall 8pm.

Botanical Painting workshop with Susan Sex SOLD OUT!!!! Venue; Burren College of Art.

“Burren and other Flowers” an artist’s perspective. Illustrated talk by Susan Sex – everyone welcome. Venue; Burren College of Art, 8pm .

“In the footsteps of O’ Kelly “ Social history and plant spotting combine in this walk that retraces O Kelly’s roots and birthplace at Kilweelrnan. Meet; St John’s Hall at 3pm.

Exhibition opening; Anne Madden “Flux and Flow” paintings of 1960’s and early 2000’s united by a strong Burren resonance. Venue; Burren College of Art Gallery, 5pm – 7 pm.
