Craggaunowen- 'The Living Past Experience', Kilmurry, Near Sixmilebridge, Co Clare
Visitors to Craggaunowen visitor attraction near Quin, Co Clare during the August Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th August) will be swept back in time to experience a special ‘Lughnasa’ celebration spanning the Iron Age through the Early Medieval, Viking Age, the Anglo-Normans to the 16th Century.

The Doolin Craft Beer Festival is back for the third year running on the same weekend, 22nd-24th August. The same winning ingredients are involved; great beers from craft brewers all around Ireland, some of Clare’s best musicians along with food from local artisan producers.The event will be run from a marque in the Gardens at the back of Hotel Doolin. Ellen (Nell) Galvin as she was locally known was born Ellen McCarthy, and lived at Ballydineen, Knockalough, Co. Clare. She was born in 1887. Around the 1920’s and 1930’s a famous blind Piper named Garret Barry lived in Inagh Co. Clare. He was a regular visitor to the McCarthy home. Nell was one of his pupils and she played both the Concertina and Fiddle from a very young age.

Mountshannon Traditional Music Festival will be in its 5th year in 2014. A small festival that runs from Friday 26th - Sunday 28th September on the shores of Lough Derg, Mountshannon, East Clare. The festival hosts pub music sessions, singing sessions, a ceili on the Friday night, concert on Saturday night, workshops Saturday morning for aspiring traditional players.
