Fisherstreet was formed in the late 1980’s, by Ennis based musicians, brothers John and Séamus McMahon and Dermot Lernihan, who had played music together since their youth. They were joined on their debut CD a few years later, by accompanists Noreen O’Donoghue, Frank Cullen and Maurice Coyle. The iconic CD Out in the Night was met with much critical acclaim, following its release. It has endured the passage of time and is still as popular today with the next generation of musicians and listeners.
“This Seminal recording is a fine example of the genre, with the accent being on uptempo instrumental pieces.” HotPress.
Fisherstreet draws its name from the musical heartland of Doolin in Co Clare, where the legendry music pub O Connor’s is situated. The picturesque surroundings of the Burren, inspired both the cover painting by Hillary Gilmore and the title track of the CD, Out In The Night. Currently, the band is working on a new CD, which will be released in the near future. The band will be joined by their new guitarist extraordinaire, Dublin based Mick McElroy.
