Loop Head Lighthouse Shines a Light on Summer
Loop Head Lighthouse will be showcased during the forthcoming May Bank Holiday Weekend through its status as one of the Great Lighthouses of Ireland.
From Saturday 29th April to Monday 1st May, a festival will take place at 6 of the 12 Great Lighthouses of Ireland.
Loop Head will host family-friendly events including tours, music, storytelling, and a local food and craft showcase. There will be Irish traditional music and storytelling at the Lighthouse on Saturday and Sunday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm, while on Bank Holiday Monday a guided walk will take place at 11am and the Loop Head Food Trail will host food-tasting stalls from 12 noon until 2pm.
This three-day weekend festival celebrates the Loop Head Peninsula’s maritime history and unique landscape. The public will be able to enjoy the stories of our maritime past, enjoy our local food and discover more about the 19th century lighthouse.
The Lighthouse is located at the mouth of the Shannon Estuary on the Loop Head Peninsula, the attraction is a landmark location on the Loop Head Heritage Trail and is located along the route of the Wild Atlantic Way.
