Enjoy an evening with Blackie O’Connell and guests, featuring Davy Spillane, our local living links with the travelling piper through time. Both Davy and Blackie come from the ‘traveller style’ background learning from the masters Keenan and Dunne. Between them they bring a rich heritage of wandering bardic traditions from the fairgrounds to the fire sides of every county in Ireland. There will also be a brief talk on the history and the making of the uilleann pipes and we will celebrate their journey through poetry and piping from near extension to UNESCO heritage status in 2016.
This evening is to celebrate Culture Night in Clare and is supported by the Dept of Arts.
