Miltown and Quilty from the Air

Heritage Week

An aerial video with on-site memories of the reputed site of the Cathair stone fort in Miltown, the Freagh Castle area, and the Quilty coast, focusing on the Irish names of its physical features.

Part of the ongoing Community Memories project of Oidhreacht an Chláir, this drone video of three local sites of historical significance includes on-site memories of local authorities Cyril Jones (on the Cathair site from which Sráid na Cathrach (Miltown Malbay) is named and the Freagh Castle area, site of a Coastguard Station where John P. Holland served as boatman, 1831-49) and Michael Falsey (on the Quilty and Seafield coastline and the little known Irish names of its physical features).
