The First Friday Series

curated by Áine Phillips

The Artists’ Resource Room is a visual artist-led community group providing a space for artistic dialogue in Co. Clare in the form of regular meetings, presentations, artist film screenings and debates.

Áine Phillips is a visual artist based in Ennis and is Head of Sculpture at Burren College of Art. She has exhibited and performed her work widely in Ireland and internationally.

Join us for tea/coffee in the Spás at glór at 11am followed by our meeting at 11.30am.

On Friday 1 September we welcome Megs Morley and Tom Flanagan.

Megs Morley and Tom Flanagan are Galway based film artists who have collaborated on numerous projects since 2000. Their work has been shown widely in both film and gallery contexts in Ireland and internationally. Their projects have been commissioned by TG4, The Arts Council, EVA International, and Galway and Clare County Councils. They take a multidisciplinary approach to developing their work, and in the past have collaborated with activists, playwrights, and actors – most recently with composers Fergal Lawler and Jürgen Simpson and choreographer Fearghus Ó Conchúir, to provoke the relationship between the languages of art, performance, politics and cinema. Megs and Tom will discuss their creative practice in relation to their collaborative work.
