Finbarr Dwyer Remembered

In association with Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann 2017

The NYAH and Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Inis 2017 have joined forces to organise events to remember the legendary accordion player, Finbarr Dwyer.

At 12pm on Monday the 21st of August, a plaque will be unveiled in Cois na hAbhna, Ennis, in memory of Finbarr Dwyer and at 3pm there will be a star-studded Concert where over 25 Accordion performers will take to the West County stage to remember the much-loved legendary traditional Irish accordion player and composer Finbarr Dwyer, whose reworking of familiar tunes has been a source of fascination for many accordion players .

His recordings spurred a new perspective on playing Irish traditional music. And his completely personal approach to the art of variations and a sound that is stand-alone is reflected today in the many students of Irish music who focus, solely, on the music of this great man, in a context all its own.

Tickets for this event can be purchased here.
