Kilbaha Coast-guard boathouse was attacked by five Fenians on Shrove Tuesday 1867. The 150th anniversary will be marked by a re-enactment and a walking tour of associated sites in the Kilbaha area.
Of the Fenians Thomas McCarthy Fennell was transported to Australia, while the leader John Delohery and others escaped to America with the help of local priest Fr Patrick White. The re-enactment of the attack and escape will be performed by Rob Hopkins’ Full Moon Theatre Co. with the help of Seol Sionna and the Kilkee Currach Club. The commemoration will also include a walking tour of historical sites in the Kilbaha area.
