Cornelius O’Brien Walking Tour

Heritage Week

Learn about the father of Clare tourism: Cornelius O’Brien, who encouraged visitors to the Cliffs of Moher. See the monument erected to his memory in 1857, and the other places associated with him.

The tour will explain how the column (currently undergoing conservation) came to be built, and will provide a wonderful opportunity to discuss its conservation with the mason undertaking the works. The tour will take in St Bridget’s well, the O’Brien mausoleum, and other nearby sites.
