Lisdoonvarna Public Library

The development of the new branch Library at Lisdoonvarna, officially opened in 1999 by Councillor Sean Hillery, then Chairman of Clare County Council, was made possible by the co-operation between Clare County Council and the local community. The main emphasis in the new branch is on children’s material and the more popular adult books. While lack of space forces this decision on management, the branch will have the full backing of the Ennistymon Branch Library just a few miles away, in accordance with the library’s regional policy.

A small public park has also been created in conjunction with the library building. This will be another significant feature to include in the Lisdoonvarna walkabout, and seating similar to that which adorned the site at the turn of the century is provided. Professional advice has been obtained in relation to the trees and shrubs on the site to ensure that no damage is done to the natural environment.

Lisdoonvarna Public Library has a stock of over 3,200 books for adults, and 3,300 books for children.

There is also a free public access internet PC.
