Located in the picturesque seaside town of Kilkee, Culturlann Sweeney is an intimate 108 seat theatre with seating over two floors. The aim at Culturlann Sweeney is to be a cultural hub in the heart of West Clare and to make the arts accessible locally to the rural community, while also facilitating the influx of visitors to the area during the summer season. The building has a beautiful gallery space in the foyer of the building and exhibitions are held throughout the year with artists exhibiting from many parts of Ireland.
Culturlann Sweeney has multi-functional spaces and a library with over 12000 books for lending. There are also 10 computers in the building for public use. The theatre programme runs all year round and includes performances across all disciplines. The theatre works hard to balance the program of events between local artists and professional performing groups touring the country. It holds various workshops for children during the summer season and puts emphasis on children’s events during school holidays. Culturlann Sweeney is always looking for new and innovating ideas on how to utilise the building in others ways for the benefit of the arts and the local community.
