The Shannon Region Conference Bureau, Coolbawn QuayLakeshore Spa (CBQ) and Luxury Yachting Ireland hosted a group of Irelands top Destination Management Companies (DMC's) over 2 days to showcase Lough Derg on the River Shannon as a new, experiential and luxury destination to the discerning tourist.

The Shannon Region Conference Bureau is a public private partnership which works with many entities in the Shannon & Limerick Region to attract groups from all over the World to the area while the Destination Management Companies bring incoming tourists and incentive groups from the US, Middle East and mainland Europe.

Traditionally when these incentive groups come to Ireland their itineraries would include many of the main tourist attractions but now these DMC’s want to offer something new and exciting for their clientele to discover and experience authentic Ireland.

Luxury Yachting Ireland and CBQ have proved key to this Showcase Event with their bespoke tours of hidden Ireland and luxury accommodation and spa on the lakeshore. These DMC guests got a true insight to the many hidden treasures on the lake shore, from private tours of a lakeside villa, a private castle only accessible by boat and a private hunters manor retreat. Guests also enjoyed a variety of artisan food and drink tastings both on and off-board throughout the 2 days.

In the evening Guests arrived by Motor Yacht, to the VIP Deck at Coolbawn Quay to a champagne reception. Here they over-nighted after having Dinner at The Derg Inn in Terryglass on Upper Lough Derg. The reaction from all was one of amazement as the DMCs realised that Lough Derg Lakelands has so much to offer as a new unspoilt and scenic destination, one that they were completely unaware of.

Gail from Moloney Kelly said ' “It really was amazing. The content of the program was superb and the visits and people we met extraordinary, charming and professional. Lough Derg Lakelands is one of the most exciting products I have experienced in a long time’’

Karen from Shannon Region Conference Bureau concluded “This showcase event has been a huge success in raising the profile of Lough Derg Lakelands as a diverse, unique and hidden piece of the greater Shannon region and thanks goes to all of those around the lake who contributed to its success”.
