• Miltown Farmers Market takes place every Friday evening from 4.30pm until 7pm in the Miltown Business Centre

The Farmer's Market has found a home right on the edge of the original Fair Green in the town of Miltown Malbay. Farmers' markets have sprung up recently all around the country and Clare is no exception. The excitement of live animals for sale on the street may be restricted to occasional fairs in Spancil Hill and Kilrush but local farm and home produce is now for sale on a weekly basis in many towns in West Clare bringing life trade and convivial chat back to the streets of villages such as Miltown Malbay. The recently restored Miltown Business Centre provides one such venue. Located in the centre of Miltown Malbay on the Ennistymon Road it attracts both local and tourist custom. The stalls are set up on a Friday afternoon inside the original stone walls which flanked the market green. The cobbled stone courtyard with traditional shop fronts and lighting creates the ideal atmosphere for a vibrant bustling intimate market. The colourful umbrellas of stall holders coupled with the delicious smell of fresh baking entice shoppers to browse among the stalls and many of them linger for the chat.Local people are particularly pleased with the new market and Friday evenings in the Miltown Business Centre have become a regular social gathering for many. Stall holders are pleased with the venue as the enclosed Victorian style courtyard provides shelter from the West Clare weather while retaining the authenticity of an outdoor market.
