There are a number of angling centres located along the western shores of Lough Derg and lower River Shannon which have well serviced angling centres. Coarse angling is possible from Mountshannon Scariff Killaloe and O'Briensbridge. Killaloe is the centre for the prestigious European Pike Angling Challenge fished in September each year.
