Holy Island in Lough Derg is one of the most famous monastic sites in Ireland. It's secluded position has enabled it to survive in a wonderful state of preservation. Boat trips and guided tours run from Mountshannon Harbour with local historian Gerard Madden.

These two lakes are 50 acres and 15 acres respectively. They are stocked annually by the local fishing club with brown trout but does have a limited stock of wild fish present. The average size trout is from 1lb to about 3lbs.

Located below the village of Kildysart lies a winding creek. Flounder are plentiful here and crab bait fished on the flooding tide is best. Float fishing for mullet also occurs here.
Lough Derg & Lower River Shannon
East Clare, Co Clare
There are a number of angling centres located along the western shores of Lough Derg and lower River Shannon which have well serviced angling centres. Coarse angling is possible from Mountshannon Scariff Killaloe and O'Briensbridge.
Lough Donnell
Seafield, Quilty, Co Clare
This beach is 2 miles south of Seafield and access is from the northern end. The main point to fish is the freshwater outlet and bottom fishing is the best using sandeel and lugworm which catches bass and flatfish.
